EXCiTING NEW WORKSHOP- featuring Dan Brotman
Saturday August 29th -7:15 p.m. including Havdallah
Dan visited CBIOS last August along with Yaron Deckel and is returning for an exciting talk.
Today, nearly 85% of the world's Jewish population lives in just two countries: the United States and Israel. As a result, many of the world's oldest Jewish communities are disappearing, with some having lost more than 90% of their population over the past few decades.
Join Montreal-based journalist and world traveller Dan Brotman, who has visited more than 100 countries, documenting Jewish communities in some of the world's most fascinating and challenging places. In partnership with Arecina Media, Dan is co-hosting a new documentary series that tells the stories of these remarkable communities before they disappear, starting with Damascus, Syria.
From the last Jews of Syria to the shrinking communities of Venezuela, Tunisia, Zimbabwe and Iran, Dan will share extraordinary firsthand stories, rare photographs, and insights from behind the scenes of his travels. Discover what life is like for Jews living in some of the world's most unexpected places, the challenges they face, and what their stories reveal about the future of Jewish life around the globe.
Donations appreciated to defer the cost of travel. RSVP by August 26th
